Our BEE profile:
Joint Venture between Saraswati Leisure Group and Cape Info Africa
The Saraswati Leisure Group, a Black Empowerment Company, owns a percentage share in Cape Info Africa. This Joint Venture brings with it a host of other benefits and opportunities, including a link to their BEE shareholders.
The controlling shareholder in the Saraswati Leisure group is Sakhikamva Investments (Pty) Ltd. Sakhikamva’s shareholders comprise a range of non-profit empowerment groups selected for their broad base of beneficiaries who have previously been denied access to economic opportunities. These include Ikamva Labantu, an umbrella organisation that functions as a development catalyst for many community based social service programmes, The Big Issue and The Black Sash. In total, the shareholders of Sakhikamva have over 50 000 beneficiaries.
Saraswati Leisure, the tourism subsidiary of Sakhikamva, is a South African Black empowerment tourism company operating in the day tour market, and its acquisition of a 50.1 % interest in Wynberg Executive Travel and its affiliate Gourmet Tours and Event management, is an important step along the path. Wynberg Executive travel, Headed by Mairead Schaper, has demonstrated its ability to provide corporate retail travel services for over 20 years.
